HANDLING CRITICISM

  Often at times many of us react with defensiveness, rage or even worse tend to attack our critics. But the veracity is, we need to get over it because being able to handle it calmly and professionally will only help us maintain relationships and be more successful in everything we do. These tips would aid you handle criticism with tact :

EFFECTIVE FOLLOW UP

I understand the fear. No one wants to be annoying or bothersome to a professional contact, especially when you want a job, meeting, sales, sponsorship or something else very important from that person. If you don’t get a response right away, it doesn’t mean that person’s arrogantly ignoring you—it just may mean that he or she is too busy.  So, to the question: Should you follow up? Absolutely. In fact, it’s your job. And how often should you do so?  As many times as it takes. The important thing is to do it the right way. Here are a few tips to aid you with effective follow up :  

STAYING HUMBLE

Confidence is key to getting ahead in life. It helps you do better at work, in relationships, and in interviews. Overconfidence, however, can make you seem like a genuine jerk. We all know that one person that thinks they are the strongest, smartest, and just all around best at everything. Truthfully, we all dislike that person to some degree. Even the Holy Book in James 4:6 affirms, "God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble." So, while confidence is essential, it's important to stay humble as well. Observe the wonder of babies as they courageously learn EVERYTHING. They are humble not humiliated. Humility reveals what there is to learn. View the Grand Canyon, Victoria Falls, and other natural wonders or at least the pictures if you can’t go. It helps keep human efforts in perspective. Celebrate the larger view and live humbly to balance ego. Once a week, have someone teach you something they do well that you don’t. Being a willing studen

APPEARANCE & CHARM

  Your appearance doesn't just influence your confidence level, but also has a strong impact on people's perception about you . Appearance goes beyond what you see in the mirror , as it also lies in your actions and personality as a whole. It has the strong ability to either allure or repel things your way, It is your charm. Some points  about charm: Charm has almost nothing to do with how your look physically , though your natural physical disposition does play a small role. It’s mostly about how you put yourself together and how you behave. The most basic and overlooked staple of being charming is smelling good . Playing into the other senses this is what ultimately makes someone irrefutably appealing, and tends to be what people will focus on more than just the visual. There is no one universally appealing style. It’s about what cut of clothing and accessory will emphasize the best parts of you and your personality

DECODING GESTURES AND PERUSING PEOPLE

  According to UCLA professor Albert Mehrabian , 55 per cent of what you convey comes from body language, 38 per cent from the tone of your voice, and only 7 per cent from what you actually say. It then becomes pertinent to understand one or two things about gestures.  Here are some tips to help you decode gestures and read people: Nodding or tilting the head to the side shows interest, active listening, and concern. A head held up indicates confidence, but if it is held too high, it can indicate aloofness or a patronizing attitude - looking down your nose at someone.
