Rap Songs That Resonate With Me (PART 1)

J. Cole's hit song "Middle Child" has become one of my favorite songs for several reasons. The song's catchy beat and J. Cole's signature flow are undeniable, but it's the lyrics that really resonate with me and make this song a standout.

At its core, "Middle Child" is a song about feeling overlooked and misunderstood. J. Cole describes himself as the "middle child" of the rap game, stuck between the established stars and the up-and-comers. He feels like he's not getting the recognition he deserves and that he's constantly fighting to prove himself.

As someone who has often felt like the "middle child" in various aspects of my life, I can relate to J. Cole's struggles. But what I love about this song is that it doesn't just dwell on the negative. Instead, J. Cole turns his frustration into motivation, using it as fuel to push himself harder and work even harder to achieve his goals.

One of my favorite lyrics in the song comes in the second verse, where J. Cole raps, "Just put the Rollie right back on my wrist / This watch came from Drizzy, he gave me a gift / Back when the rap game was praying I'd diss / They act like two legends cannot coexist." Here, J. Cole is referencing the fact that he received a Rolex watch as a gift from Drake, despite the fact that there were rumors of tension between the two rappers. Instead of getting caught up in the drama and negativity, J. Cole and Drake were able to put their differences aside and support each other.

To me, this is a powerful lesson about the importance of staying focused on your own goals and not getting distracted by the opinions of others. It's easy to get caught up in drama and negativity, but ultimately, that kind of energy will only hold you back. By staying focused and working hard, you can achieve your dreams and build positive relationships with those around you.

Overall, "Middle Child" is a song that speaks to the struggles of feeling overlooked and misunderstood, but it's also a song about resilience and determination.
